Mick Schumacher paid an emotional tribute to his father’s – Michael Schumacher – legendary Formula One career as he featured in his dad’s original overalls and helmet at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend.
The 24-year-old has carved out a career in the motorsport for himself, taking his place amongst the ranks at Mercedes as their main reserve driver this season and was given the privilege to drive at the iconic yearly event.
Schumacher Snr is still regarded as one of the greatest ever F1 drivers, winning seven world championship titles, a feat only matched by current Silver Arrows star Lewis Hamilton.
The German driver joined the Mercedes paddock in the final years of his stellar career, racing for the team in their first three seasons between 2010 and 2012 and played a major part in the team’s transformation from grid infants to giants.
His retirement was shadowed by a tragic skiing accident that he is still recovering from with the help of family.

The legendary driver’s son has paid tribute to his dad’s iconic career in the past and his latest demonstration saw him get behind the wheel of his father’s W02 Mercedes car while wearing matching helmet and race attire.
Schumacher took part in a series of events on both Saturday and Sunday at Goodwood, racing the Mercedes up and down the famous hill at the circuit in front of adoring crowds.
The all-silver overalls had been kept well-maintained in pristine condition as the sleek race material adorned with original sponsorship glistened in the baking Sussex sun.
It was further inscribed with a small German flag next to the scripting M. Schumacher in the stomach area on the front of the suit.
He also strapped on the blazing orange Mercedes helmet that had previously been worn by his father during his stint at the German race team paddock.
The striking sunset colour was topped with a black circle that featured the brands of numerous sponsors with some still involved with the team today.
Thousands of supporters turned out at Goodwood to capture the emotional moment over both Saturday and Sunday with Schumacher taking time out to show his appreciation.
