According to Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald, the New England Patriots want to sign veteran defensive lineman Trysten Hill to the practice squad.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound product from Central Florida was one of five free agents in Foxborough on Tuesday for workouts.
Hill, 25, was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 58th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Arizona Cardinals claimed him off waivers in November of last year, and he spent the remainder of the regular season on injured reserve before joining the Cleveland Browns in March.
Following his dismissal at the 53-man roster deadline set by the league, Hill consented to join Cleveland’s practice squad. Last Monday, the former All-AAC second-team selection was once again freed.
With 31 games played, five of which were starts, Hill has 39 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has played 35 special team plays and 732 defensive snaps.
Daniel Ekuale, a defensive lineman for New England, was put on injured reserve at the end of September. Jeremiah Pharms Jr. was upgraded for the team’s 38-3 defeat at AT&T Stadium on Sunday. Manny Jones, a fellow defensive lineman, just joined the practice squad as well.
