Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he’s not ready to have children at the moment and is instead focusing on his Formula 1 career.
The Mercedes driver mentioned that he enjoys being an uncle and has not yet decided to take the step of parenthood. Hamilton wants to give his full attention to his racing career without any compromises for the time being.
“I don’t have time for that, not at the moment,” Hamilton told Swiss newspaper Blick. “No, I enjoy being an uncle!”
“I haven’t decided on this big step yet. I still have goals with the race car – and everything has to take a back seat. I want to do my job 100 per cent.”
“Of course, you have to find the necessary balance with your private life and make compromises. But fortunately that day hasn’t come yet.”
In addition to discussing his family life, Hamilton also mentioned that he could continue racing past winning his eighth Formula 1 World Championship title. He expressed that the availability of a great car is crucial in achieving significant goals in Formula 1, and he has not set winning an eighth title as a stopping point in his career.
Although Mercedes has been making progress towards challenging for victories, their primary optimism is now centered on the W15 for the 2024 season. This comes after the team revealed a comprehensive redesign of their Formula 1 concept, departing from their previous ‘no-sidepods’ strategy.
“Without a great car, you can hardly achieve the big goals in Formula 1, nobody,” Hamilton added.
“I never said that the eighth title was a stop signal for me. But I will only know that when I actually get there.”
Hamilton is committed to Mercedes until the end of 2025, which aligns with the next major regulations change in F1. Hamilton’s dedication to his racing career remains a top priority for him, and he will consider his future in motorsport as he continues to pursue success on the track.
