Balvin decided to construct this home in Llanogrande, Colombia, only 30 minutes outside of Medelln, drawing inspiration from the transparency and fluidity of Japanese architecture. The Latin Grammy-winning performer believes that “less is more” when it comes to constructing a home that prioritizes ease and comfort over ego.

In the song that 5 Solidos made for J Balvin, the “House of the Waters” house’s original design is still present. The center of the house is made up of two parallel rooms connected by a hardwood hallway with a steeply pitched ceiling and lots of natural light. The stunning mountain ranges of Colombia may now take center stage thanks to the subsequent addition of the external plan as a second phase.

This home skillfully marries Scandinavian charm with Japanese simplicity, fusing material lightness with harmony and composure. The bonsai and warm oak wood used to decorate the flooring, walls, and pitched ceilings of the house add to its simplicity, modesty, and well-designed characteristics.

J Balvin has carefully and thoughtfully arranged his home as an enthusiastic art and design collector. The well chosen furnishings that allow visitors to sit and enjoy the space include Thonet dining chairs, Vibia lamps that illuminate the room, and Mattiazzi Osso stools.
The entire house exhibits meticulous attention to detail, from the wall art to the bookshelves, all of which are displayed in a neutral color scheme. According to the architects from 5 Solidos, every element of the design engages in conversation with the space, inspiring moments of astonishment as well as a sense of balance and coherence.
