Gimme has learned that Rihanna’s first home in Beverly Hills sold for a profit of $14.9 million. The contemporary house at 9152 Janice Place, with seven bedrooms and nine baths, was advertised for $16.49 million earlier.
Tucked away in a gated enclave, the home has a distinct celebrity atmosphere, stunning canyon views, and all around it. This Grammy-winning Barbadian entrepreneur and performer purchased the house in 2011 for approximately $5.1 million, then sold it in 2014 for $7.65 million.
Then, in 2016, the EGOT-winning artist John “All of Me” Legend paid $14.1 million for the home with his partner, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen. For a part of the pandemic, the couple lived there with their two kids and Teigen’s mother, Vilailuck, popularly known as “Pepper Thai.” Teigen conveyed her appreciation for the living situation, citing the help of her mother and other family members as well as the workers, who included many nannies and a house manager.
In August 2020, following Teigen’s pregnancy, the pair listed the house for $24 million. A year later, it was eventually sold for $16.8 million. After a few months of ownership, the next owner tried to sell the home and listed it for $19.25 million, but she had trouble finding a buyer.
Following price reductions and changes in real estate agents, the property was relisted in February and eventually sold, closing four months later. The sale incurred a loss of nearly $2 million for the seller. The house, recognized for its appearance on Teigen’s Instagram account, which boasts 40.1 million followers, also served as a backdrop for her cookbook, “Cravings: Hungry for More.”
Originally built in 1966, the residence underwent significant renovations, including upgrades overseen by Legend and Teigen’s Hollywood interior designer. Encompassing 8,520 square feet, the house features towering 33-foot ceilings, an artistic staircase, and distinctive design elements such as patterned ceilings from Thailand, oak floors, and walls crafted from clay and steel.
With 8,250 square feet, the mansion is large and features 33-foot ceilings. There is a sizable gym available on the Janice Place property. Situated on 0.86 acres, the property features an elegant saltwater pool, a Jacuzzi, and an outdoor kitchen that includes a grill, wood-burning oven, and a pergola covered in grapevines.
Within the residence, a foyer leads to a living room and sitting room divided by a statement-making concrete and brass fireplace. Other highlights encompass a chef’s kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows, a spacious home gym, and a home theater.
