The FIA Responds to Haas’ Request for US Grand Prix Review: Three Teams Called for Hearing
Following Haas’ request for a review of the United States Grand Prix results, the FIA has summoned Red Bull, Aston Martin, and Williams, along with Haas, to participate in a video conference hearing scheduled for Wednesday at 3 pm Central European Time.
The initial phase of the hearing, which is consistent with standard procedures, will evaluate whether there are valid grounds for reviewing the race results. The stewards responsible for the United States Grand Prix—Felix Holter, Andrew Mallalieu, Derek Warwick, and Dennis Dean—will determine if Haas has presented a “significant and pertinent new element that was not accessible to the party seeking the review at the time of the initial decision.”
If the stewards decide that a review is warranted, the second part of the hearing will proceed at a later time.
Haas has specifically requested a review of two documents: the final race classification and the decision not to take further action against Alexander Albon for multiple track limits violations. Albon received a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits on four separate occasions during the race.
Albon committed a total of six track limits violations during the race, and if additional violations had gone unaddressed by the stewards, he could have incurred further penalties.
Document 59, the subject of Haas’ review request, states that “while there may be some indications of possible track limit infringements at turn six, the available evidence is insufficient to definitively and consistently establish that any violations occurred, and therefore, no further action was taken.”
Among the other teams summoned for the hearing, Red Bull’s drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez finished first and fourth, respectively, while Aston Martin’s sole finisher was Lance Stroll, who secured seventh place.
