Alpha Tauri x GUNDAM
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. revealed on Tuesday a unique and exclusive event collaboration with the Scuderia AlphaTauri team.
As per a press release, the GUNDAM franchise made its debut in 1979 and revolves around pilots operating highly advanced machines, reflecting the challenges faced by Formula 1 drivers.
Karim Farghaly, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Bandai Namco, described GUNDAM as one of the world’s longest-running science fiction franchises, known for its themes of heroism, resilience in the face of adversity, and conquering significant obstacles. These themes parallel the real-life challenges that Formula 1 drivers encounter in every race.
He emphasized that the collaboration with Scuderia AlphaTauri was driven by the team’s vision and willingness to help introduce GUNDAM to the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, creating a meaningful and memorable experience for both F1 and GUNDAM fans.
During the race week, drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo will display Gundam decals of the TX-78-2 GUNDAM and XVX-016 GUNDAM Aerial on the headrests of their AT04 race cars.
Fans can also look forward to nearly 10-foot-tall GUNDAM statues placed at various locations around the team’s facilities, a promotional video featuring Tsunoda in a GUNDAM-inspired racing suit, and the display of a Perfect-Grade Unleashed model of the Mobile Suit RX-78-W GUNDAM. Additionally, two GUNDAM BASE pop-up shops will be accessible on the Las Vegas Strip, situated at Elara by Hilton and Park MGM.
