Clayton Korte: The Wildcat Club Enclave will soon include six modern luxury villas on a quiet street in Austin’s West Lake Hills neighborhood. A renowned Austin architecture firm created each mansion to offer a luxurious living in native Texas landscapes.
The Rolling Hills Residence at Wildcat Hollow nestles into the easternmost end of the wooded property to take advantage of the sloping topography, which connects each living level to the outdoors. Rolling Hills is a custom five-bedroom home with 280-degree views of downtown Austin and the surrounding terrain. A light-filled central stair and residential elevator connect the home’s three levels, which include a wine cellar, office, media room, and private gym among expansive living and bedroom quarters.
Native limestone walls stabilize the 10,196-square-foot house on the sloping site, supporting the lighter two-story steel and wood program elements above. A welcome central entry court and foyer flanked by native stone mass walls provides vertical circulation up to living rooms and access to a separate living and bedroom suite with terrace. A large, lift-equipped garage on the north side can hold six cars.
The second floor has three more bedrooms, a cinema room, and garage loft. Living and dining facilities lead to a small central courtyard and an infinity pool that views the property’s slope backside on the main floor. A modern chef’s kitchen opens to the countryside and extends to outdoor living and dining rooms across the wind-protected courtyard.
Plaster and White Oak paneling with blackened steel accents are rich and elegant interior materials. View-facing rooms have higher ceilings and larger areas. The top-floor main suite has northern sunlight and distant metropolitan skyline views.
Steel framework, local limestone, cast-in-place concrete, charred Accoya paneling, and naturally patinaed copper are used on the outside for their clean lines, durability, and site authenticity.
