Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb grabbed a touchdown and a two-point conversion Thursday in a season that appears to be headed for a First-Team All-Pro designation.
And for Dallas QB Dak Prescott to play All-Pro? Stars like Lamb carry the load.
Mike McCarthy, Cowboys coach, now says Dak’s hоt hand reminds him of Aaron Rodgers’ best when they worked together in Green Bay. It can’t be all about the superstars.
Great QB play need assists like Brandin Cooks.Perhaps the Cowboys’ best receiving performance was Cooks’ second excellent showing in three games in a 45-10 thrashing of the Washingtоn Commanders at AT&T Stadium. Cooks had four catches for 72 yards Thursday, averaging 18 yards per catch. Cooks’ second-quarter 31-yard Prescott touchdown catch was his highlight. Cooks had seven 17 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns in his first seven Cowboys games. He’s rebounded in the previous three games, catching 16 passes for 287 yards in three wins to disprove the trade bust label. Dak has thrown 18 TD passes to two interceptions in his last six games, similar to Cooks’ bust-out.The Thanksgiving Day win gave Cooks over 9,000 career receiving yards. Julio Jones, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, Travis Kelce, Davante Adams, Keenan Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Tyreek Hill are the other active players with 9,000 career receiving yards. Ironically, former Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper (8.985) is the closest to 9,000 career receiving yards. Dallas was unhappy with Cooper and traded him to Cleveland last season, which led to the trade for Cooks this offseason. We mentioned Adams. That was Rodgers’ star in Green Bay. Wideouts Randall Cobb and Donald Driver helped Rodgers excel.Cooks shined against the Giants, Panthers, and Commanders, three inferior clubs. The Cowboys face the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions in a harder stretch. As Dallas prepares for their roughest stretch of the season, Cooks’ performance as a real No. 2 to Lamb is encouraging, enabling Dak perform like Aaron Rodgers, as McCarthy can attest.
