Dak Prescott has been criticized in his eight seasons as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, but no NFL quarterback has played better in the past five games.
The Cowboys have won four of five games as he has completed 127 of 180 passes for 1,602 yards with 17 touchdowns and two interceptions for a 124.8 passer rating.
Prescott is among the MVP candidates for the first time since his 2016 rookie season.
Monday, he was asked if that matters.
It indicates I’m playing well. Simply put. Prescott told Schuyler Dixon of the Associated Press, “No way.” I’m about one goal, and it’s a big team goal, so if my nаme’s in there, we’re playing well. That’s good. We just want to construct. After eight years, it’s about growing and making sure we’re getting better each week and hоt when we need to be.”
Quarterbacks from the top AFC and NFC teams compete for the MVP award at the end of the year. Last year, voters chose five players on a 10-5-3-2-1 system instead of one.
Prescott may need to win the NFC East to beаt Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Cowboys can do it despite trailing the Eagles by two games.
Philadelphia faces the 49ers on Sunday and Dallas the Seahawks on Thursday. After 13 straight wins, the Cowboys will play for the division lead in Arlington in Week 14 if the Eagles lose.
Prescott has 23 touchdowns and six interceptions this season after leading the league with 15 last year. He had his best passer rating ever at 107.4.
“It gives credit to everything around this team, the organization, the coaches, people just doing their business, being prepared,” Prescott said. Our process has been excellent this season, from when the game plan comes in to calling a game. Play callers have clear goals in everything. Really, the problem is being faithful to that process, not getting ahead, not becoming overwhelmed, and realizing that I tell myself I haven’t done sҺit.
Regular-season metrics are wonderful, but wins matter most. We want to stack and expand this team to get stronger every week.”
