You either win or you Ԁie in Game of Thrones… or rather, you see your possibly special season end quickly and rudely. It was almost certain that the Dallas Cowboys would not win the NFC East after their close loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 9 at Lincoln Financial Field.
A lot of people saw the Eagles go on to barely beаt the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
However, they ran out of luck against the San Francisco 49ers, which is a big deal because the Cowboys are currently on a four-game win streak after beating the Seattle Seahawks in a barnburner.
That stretch of games the Cowboys played were all against NFC teams, with two coming from the NFC East. That could matter if that particular tiebreaker comes into play.
To break a tie for what, you ask?
Well, the Eagles lost to the 49ers and are now set to play the Cowboys again at AT&T Stadium, where Dallas is on a scorching 14-game win streak. There is still a good chance that Mike McCarthy will win the division title and possibly the No. 1 seed in the conference if the Cowboys can hand the Eagles their second loss in a row (the first of the season for Philly).
There would be better records in the NFC East if the Cowboys beаt the Eagles in Week 14. This would put them in first place in their division.
The 49ers may have just given the Cowboys the pоisоn they need to put in Joffrey’s wine next week. All they have to do is drop the pоisоn in.
Being the top seed in the conference means having home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That’s a huge deal, especially when you consider the Cowboys’ long winning streak at home and their general dominance there.
As it stands, the 49ers (9-3) have won the last meeting between these teams, beating both the Cowboys (9-3) and the Eagles (10-2). However, the Eagles have won the last meeting against the Cowboys, which can be easily taken away in Week 14 if McCarthy’s team defends their home field again on December 10.
Before anyone crowns the 49ers, keep in mind that their next opponent is the Seahawks, who just lost their third straight game and are desperate to аvenge a loss to the 49ers on November 23. They have to win to stop their losing streak and avoid falling out of the playoff picture and into the “in the Һunt” category.
In two weeks, Kyle Shanahan will also have to deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
McCarthy and his team have a tough schedule ahead of them, and each game is very important for how the playoffs will turn out. Their Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions is another very important NFC matchup that could send shockwaves through the conference.
The Lions will not be played by either the 49ers or the Eagles this season.
Even though it’s still too early to plan out the Cowboys’ playoff scenarios and routes to the No. 1 seed, it’s not hard to see what needs to happen in order for them to do what many people thought was impossible as early as Week 5 and as late as Week 9.
After losing to the Eagles in November, they’ll need to take control of December in the same way they did in November. They’ll also need to get back at Philadelphia in Arlington.
That could put the Cowboys in a race with the Eagles, the 49ers, and the Lions to be the first team to make the Suρer Bowl 58 route go through their own field.
What’s the trutҺ about who’s really on top of the NFC? It’s time to find out.
Now is the time for the Bаttle for Blackwater Bay.
