She is well-known for sharing her beauty secrets with her fans.
In a cosmetic tutorial published to Vogue’s official YouTube account on Tuesday, Selena Gomez opened up about her infamous self-tanner disaster at the 2018 Met Gala.
During the video, the 29-year-old hitmaker hilariously explained the reasons for her attendance at the event and stated that she was enjoying herself.
Gomez began the story by stating that she and her collaborators were interested in darkening her complexion, which initially worked nicely.
‘I was getting ready for the Met Gala, and we wanted to add some color. So I applied some of this tanning lotion, and it looked extremely nice and even,’ she explained.
The Come & Get It vocalist then observed that the cream’s color gradually altered over time.
‘As the evening progressed, it became darker and darker, and I didn’t realize it,’ she explained.
The vocalist also stated that, considering the high visibility of the yearly event, she felt compelled to make light of the cosmetic gaffe.
‘I’m at the Met Gala — literally one of the most prestige, beautiful events, and I’m wandering around trying to look all beautiful,’ she recounted.
Gomez then stated that she viewed an image of herself taken during the event and quickly recognized that her tanning lotion was more strong than she had imagined.
‘When I sit down, I look at a snapshot of myself and I am completely orange,’ she explained. I said to myself, “This is going to be terrible because I’m going to get eaten alive about this.” ‘
The singer then stated that she was not phased by the scenario and mentioned a comical footage that she published on her Instagram account following the event.
‘I had my security film me because my first impulse was to get the hell out of there,’ she explained.
‘I’m really just hauling a** to my car and then gonna publish it online,’ she said in the post. I was saying, “This is my reaction after seeing my Met Gala photos.”
Gomez joked in the description of the video that fleeing the event was the best thing she could do ‘after I saw my photographs from MET.’
After she posted the video to her Instagram account, an insider told People that the singer was mocking herself for her appearance by releasing the tape.
According to them, she ‘was just clapping back at people who were commenting on her tan and hair and wanted to make a joke about it.’
The source also stated that the singer loved her costume for the evening and chose the one she wore not long before the Met Gala.
According to the report, Gomez “had two outfits to choose from and decided on Sunday which one she was going to wear.” She adored the gown and was deeply invested in it.’
