According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo spent £8.5 million on a special edition Bugatti, one of just 10 in the world, to pass the time during the lockout.
The Juventus player is presently under lockdown in his home region of Madeira, Portugal, as the coronavirus outbreak continues to paralyze football.
According to Bild, Ronaldo ordered the opulent sports car Bugatti Centodieci as a form of retail therapy to help him get through the difficult times, just like many of us may.
The Portuguese would be adding to his amazing collection of automobiles, which already includes a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, if the deal goes through.
The French automaker is renowned for producing some of the most elegant and powerful sports cars in the world, and the Centodieci, their newest model, is supposedly an homage to the iconic Bugatti EB110.
When asked by Bild, the official Bugatti website described Ronaldo’s purported new toy as “breathtaking,” but it did not address whether the 35-year-old was a buyer.
According to the description, “With its amazing performance and innovative design, the Centodieci pushes all boundaries of imagination.” Its inspiration is the historical model.
The Centodieci, with its famous W16 engine and contemporary take on the classic wedge form, elegantly ushers the EB110 into the new millennium.
“The sculptural beauty and flawless elegance of the ten limited-edition vehicles make the Centodieci a true, tangible work of art.”
With a top speed of 236 mph, the supercar’s 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds.
