Greg Olsen is “interested in the Carolina Panthers head coach vacancy”
Former NFL tight end spent 9 seasons with Panthers.
Tom Brady will replace Olsen on Fox Sports next year.
Carolina dismissed Frank ReicҺ this week with a 1-10 record and 4th in the NFC South.
Olsen, 38, played nine of his 14 NFL seasons with the Panthers, participating in three Pro Bowls.
Since retiring in 2021, he has become Fox Sports’ main color analyst.
Olsen’s position may be at rιsk as NFL legend Brady is slated to join the broadcast giants next season for $375 million.
The Athletic reported that Olsen would be “interested in the Panthers’ vacancy if he were approached.”
According to Joseph Person and Richard Deitsch, Panthers owner David Tepper may rιsk “fan backlash” if he approaches Olsen.
Besides coaching his son’s Pop Warner squad, Olsen has no professional coaching experience.
Panthers fans quickly commented on the claims on social media, saying on X: “I just can’t see this happening.”
Another said: “Great fit. He should be hired immediately. Players like playing for former leaders like Demeco Ryans. Greg Olsen is like that.”
A third added, “He knows he’ll be benched for Tom Brady…”
A fourth said “Jeff Saturday vibes.”
Brady signed a ten-year, $375 million Fox television agreement in summer 2022.
The seven-time Suρer Bowl champion will call primetime games.
Brady said he will start calling in 2024 after retiring in February.
He recognizes it may take time to adjust to media after 22 years on the football field.
I guess even my expectations are that I’ll work hard in this stage of my career because you’re not good at it the first time.
I threw a football poorly my first time. I struggled with arithmetic equations at first.
