Travis Kelce may soon be able to fulfill his dream of playing hockey for the Chicago Blackhawks, as standout rookie Connor Bedard has invited Kelce to meet the squad once more.
‘A couple guys were displaying him being unable to pronounce my name,’ Bedard added of Kelce’s shout outs. ‘That was really cool. Clearly one of the world’s top football players. It’s fantastic.’
‘Obviously, he’s a Chicago fan, so it’s nice to have someone… Guys like Gronkowski and, I believe, JJ Watt have gone out with the team, so that would be amazing,’ Bedard added. ‘Perhaps try to teach him a little bit of hockey.’
Kelce couldn’t speak Bedard’s name correctly at first, instead saying Bed-nard. Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, on the other hand, knew he enjoyed watching the 18-year-old sensation perform.
On this week’s ‘New Heights’ broadcast, Kelce apologized for the mispronunciation before asking co-host, older brother, and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce if he’d seen the Blackhawks rookie.
The elder Kelce stated that he had not yet seen Bedard in play, to which Travis Kelce responded, ‘he’s a baller’ regarding the Chicagoan.
Travis Kelce also recalled when Rob Gronkowski, a recently retired tight end who formerly played for the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, got to skate with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Kelce is attempting a similar feat with the Blackhawks.
‘He was in net for a practice or whatever,’ Kelce explained. ‘It was a fantastic bit. I was a little envious. I want to do it right now. I’d like to go to the Blackhawks and play in net or whatever.’
The nearest NHL team to Kansas City is the St. Louis Blues, which is about a 4-hour journey across Missouri.
Although Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was present and did gulp a beer during one of the Blues’ home Stanley Cup Finals games against the Boston Bruins in 2019, Kelce has chosen to support one of St. Louis’ opponents.
