As Red Bull looks forward to the 2024 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen’s candid assessment of the RB19 highlights the team’s commitment to continuous improvement.
Despite the RB19’s remarkable success, winning 19 out of 22 races and establishing itself as one of the most successful cars in F1 history, Verstappen’s acknowledgment of weaknesses, particularly in low-speed corners, underscores the team’s dedication to refining its performance.
The RB19’s exceptional run faced a notable challenge on street circuits, notably in Singapore, where both Verstappen and teammate Sergio Perez struggled to feel entirely comfortable behind the wheel. While the car excelled on various tracks, its performance in low-speed corners, exacerbated by bumps on street circuits, emerged as a focal point for enhancement.
Red Bull, known for its relentless pursuit of excellence, is expected to channel its resources and technical expertise into addressing these weaknesses for the 2024 season. The team’s success in 2023, coupled with Verstappen’s insights, provides valuable data for the engineers and designers to fine-tune the car’s capabilities. The goal is not only to maintain Red Bull’s competitive edge but to elevate it further, ensuring that the RB24 is a well-rounded machine capable of excelling across diverse track configurations.
With the anticipation of an even more intense competition in the upcoming season, Red Bull’s focus on continuous improvement reflects their determination to stay at the forefront of Formula 1. As the team navigates the challenges of evolving regulations and dynamic competition, the insights gained from the RB19’s performance will serve as a foundation for building a car that not only addresses its weaknesses but also sets new standards in terms of speed, agility, and overall racecraft.

“Look at our race weekend in Singapore. In general, on street circuits, I think we are a bit struggling a bit more like in Vegas also,” said Verstappen.
“Low speed is definitely not our strongest point in the car; bumps, curbs as well. So that’s definitely a big area where we can improve.”
