Tommy DeVito ultimately made the decision to remain with his hometown team, despite having the opportunity to sign with the New England Patriots before the season began.
Although the Patriots were not able to acquire the Giants signal-caller, Sean Stellato, the agent, thinks that if the team decides to sign his client E.J. Perry, New England may have its own hometown quarterback success story.
The native of Andover, Massachusetts, Perry worked out for the Patriots earlier this week. He was considered by New England in the 2022 NFL Draft as well, but he was selected out of Brown.
Prior to spending two different seasons with the Houston Texans this season, Perry ultimately played his first season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since the Texans dismissed Perry in late August, the 6-foot-2, 211-pound signal-caller has searched for a new NFL team. Stellato believes the Patriots, who are in need of a quarterback, would be a good fit for Perry.
It was at the East-West Shrine Game when Perry truly established himself. On that platform, he was amazing. He completed 13 of 18 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns, winning MVP of the game.
The Patriots might attempt to realize that potential and try to do what the Texans and Jaguars were unable to. Perry may try to be shaped by New England, which has experience working with project players.
