According to TMZ, Jay-Z and Beyoncé reportedly broke California’s price record by spending $200 million for a stunning concrete estate overlooking the beach in Malibu.
By far the most ever paid for a house in California. The hip-hop power couple grabbed the record from their new neighbor, billionaire venture investor Marc Andreessen, who spent $177 million for the mansion next door in 2021.
The home is a minimalist masterpiece, a futuristic combination of concrete and glass envisioned by art collector William Bell, who purchased the property for $14.5 million in 2003. He enlisted the help of Japanese architect Tadao Ando, a Pritzker Prize winner known for his work on remarkable concrete buildings throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.
His design is in full show here, as the L-shaped home opens to enormous, open areas defined by concrete passageways and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Patios lead to a swimming pool, cabana, and a flat, green lawn set on a cliff overlooking the ocean below.
