Verstappen on Proposal Plans: Red Bull Ace Keeps Relationship Details Close to Chest
Red Bull racing sensation, Max Verstappen, has chosen to keep the details of his impending proposal to long-term partner Kelly Piquet under wraps. The 24-year-old racing prodigy entered into a relationship with the 35-year-old, daughter of three-time Formula 1 world champion Nelson Piquet, back in 2020, predating Verstappen’s first Formula 1 title triumph.
Verstappen and Piquet became an official item at the start of 2021 as the F1 ace wrote on Instagram: “Happy New Year everyone! Let’s make 2021 a year to remember in many ways. Wishing you all success, love and happiness just as I found mine.”
Three years into the relationship, the couple are yet to tie the knot. And after being quizzed by Blick about a future wedding, Verstappen said: “Marry? Me? Now you’ve publicly pressured me into saying a date. I don’t know, time will tell. Right now, I’m very, very happy with Kelly. But personally I don’t have a schedule for when I’m going to get down on one knee in front of her. It’s all supposed to happen spontaneously.”
Verstappen was then asked whether he would propose during his time as an F1 driver. And the 26-year-old added: “As I said, I don’t know. The right day will come when we feel like we are stamping our relationship on paper as well.”
Renowned for her diverse talents, Kelly Piquet, as reported by The Sun, boasts a career that spans modeling, journalism, blogging, and public relations. Born in Germany, Piquet spent a significant portion of her formative years in France before embarking on a year of study in England.
Later, she made her way to Brazil and eventually pursued higher education in New York, culminating in a degree in international relations. The 35-year-old’s illustrious lineage includes her father, Nelson Piquet, a Formula 1 legend who clinched world championships in 1981, 1983, and 1987. The elder Piquet competed in 204 Grands Prix, securing victory in 23 races before retiring from the sport in 1991 at the age of 40.”
“The family must be the haven of peace to be able to forget the stressful moments,” Verstappen explained as he spoke about his partner once again and their animals. “And Kelly knows the problems from her father’s career. I just love having a big family with lots of animals.
“At the moment [we have] three cats, because they are more independent than dogs. Especially when you travel, you can hardly take care of dogs. Or you can take them with you – and then you have to take care of them like a baby. This is very difficult for both sides.”
