Alpine F1 Team Completes €200 Million Sale of 24% Stake to US Investors
The Alpine F1 team has finalized the €200 million sale announced in June 2022, involving a 24% stake sold to a group of US investors. The investment group comprises Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, and Maximum Effort Investments, led by Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds, who co-owns Wrexham FC with fellow Alpine investor Rob McElhenney. This transaction officially values the Enstone-based squad at approximately $900 million.
As part of the deal, Alec Scheiner, co-founder of Otro Capital, has joined Alpine Racing’s board as a director. Other board members include Alpine Cars CEO Philippe Krief and general counsel Michaell Smith.
In October 2022, Otro Capital expanded its consortium of investors to include sports personalities such as golfer Rory McIlroy, boxer Anthony Joshua, footballers Trent Alexander-Arnold and Juan Mata, and NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The group aims to leverage its expertise across different areas of the sports ecosystem to enhance Alpine F1’s reach and engage new fans.
Alpine Team Principal Bruno Famin emphasized the significance of the investors’ contribution, highlighting their trust in the project and their ability to connect with potential partners and sponsors. Famin expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact it has already had on Alpine’s operations.
