Brad Pitt’s Formula 1 Film Faces Delay Due to Hollywood Strikes, Says Lewis Hamilton
Formula 1 enthusiasts anticipating Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula 1 film will have to exercise patience, with the movie’s release potentially pushed to early 2025. The delay is attributed to the recent strikes by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), marking their first strike since 1980.
The strikes, focused on pay disputes and the use of Artificial Intelligence in productions, significantly disrupted various film and TV projects, including the F1 film co-produced by racing legend Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton, who also plays a role in the film, acknowledged the impact of the strikes on the production schedule, stating that the release date is likely to be in early 2025 due to the necessary post-production work. The strikes led to a halt in filming plans, including scenes intended for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Despite some progress in production earlier this year, much of it has been rescheduled for 2024.
Production problems
Brad Pitt has been actively involved in filming scenes, including those at the British Grand Prix, while a fictional APX GP team has made appearances at other races like the Hungarian and US Grands Prix. Director Jerry Bruckheimer, known for his work on films such as Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean, expressed support for those participating in the strikes, acknowledging the challenges faced by the production.
