A time of downsizing and electrification. All automakers must adapt to remain competitive. Lamborghini is apparently working on a Huracan replacement without a V12 engine.
The Huracan’s replacement will be downsized and electrified. The vehicle will join Raging Bull’s electrified portfolio and be announced in the first quarter of this year and released in 2024.
The unannounced car will replace Lamborghini’s normally aspirated V10 engine with a plug-in powertrain with a new V8 engine. Lamborghini will develop its own V8 instead of utilizing Audi’s 4.0-liter.
It will vary from the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm’s Urus approach. Audi tuned its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 to produce 641 horsepower (650 PS) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque in the SUV.
The car’s striking look will hint at its relationship to the V12-powered plug-in hybrid Revuelto hypercar. The carbon fiber monocoque, Y-shaped LED light signature, and hexagonal exhaust are planned.
To maintain entry-level cost and prestige, the Italians may employ aluminum instead of the Revuelto’s advanced composites.
Revuelto’s powertrain uses Lamborghini’s V12 engine. An eight-speed Graziano dual-clutch automatic gearbox delivers 1,001 horsepower (1,015 PS) and 783 lb-ft (1,062 Nm) to both axles.
Huracan successor will sit on a shorter platform than the Revuelto’s 194.8-inch (4,947-millimeter). Finally, the Huracan Tecnica is 179 inches (4,597 millimeters) long.
Lamborghini’s third plug-in hybrid, after the Revuelto and the electrified Urus SUV, will debut this year with a V8 engine, electric motor, and battery pack. We don’t know whether the PHEV will have one or two electric motors or rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Three are in the Revuelto AWD.
We know that the Revuelto’s 3.8-kWh battery pack will store the energy. Lower than 10 miles (16 kilometers) electric range is possible. Autocar says that the Revuelto and Huracan replacement will share important components and be produced in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
