Davis’ trainer, David Lawrence, explained how he got the linebacker in the best shape of his life.
Lawrence is a strength and conditioning coach at Michigan Elite Conditioning and helps high school, college, and professional football players transform their bodies.
He took it to the next level with Davis.
When Davis started training with Lawrence he weighed 227 pounds. Lawrence said he gave him some simple equipment and got him to work.”I gave him (Jarrad Davis) 2 bars, plates, a squat stand, and a bench,” Lawrence said to All Lions.
“He trained his аss off in his home basement doing 2 training sessions a day and also running 2x a week.
“The program design was simplistic but effective. He dialed in his nutrition this year and is ready to roll.”
After his training, David was bench pressing a whopping 375 pounds.Lawrence said the goal was to increase David’s maximum strength while also upping his stamina.
“Jarrad’s maximal strength and power are much higher which will allow him to play at a higher level without being fatigued,” Lawrence said.
“He will be much stronger at the point of contact and being leaner will help him run faster and change direction more easily.”
Lawrence has trained multiple other Lions players and said he has worked with over 50 professional athletes in his career as a trainer.
However, the majority of his clients are mostly in between teams or looking to get healthy after an ιnjury.
“Many of the athletes I get however start training after the last year of their contract is over,” Lawrence said.
“They are looking for a new team or coming in to rehabilitate an ιnjury sustained during the season.”
If he does as good a job with them as he did with Davis, Lawrence likely has tons of happy customers.
