The Ferrari F50 supercar once owned by legendary boxer Mike Tyson will be auctioned next weekend. Notably, even though it is 26 years old, this supercar has only rolled less than 10,000 km.
The famous American auction company Gooding & Company is preparing to auction the extremely valuable Ferrari F50 at Pebble Beach (California) on August 19-20. This is the supercar of heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson since 1996.
This red Ferrari car has chassis number 104220 and was released on February 13, 1996. This is the 73rd car produced in a limited edition of only 349 units produced worldwide and is one of 55 F50s produced exclusively for the US market.
Not long after arriving in America, this Ferrari F50 was owned by Mike Tyson, right when this boxer was at the peak of his career. However, Mike sold it in 2001 to Infospace co-founder Kevin Marcus.
Over the next two decades, the car passed through the hands of many collectors and the total driving distance of this supercar was only about 6,200 miles (nearly 10,000 km). Last May 2022, the current owner sent it to Ferrari in Fort Lauderdale (Fláida) for major maintenance. The car has had its clutch replaced, new tires and many other care services from Ferrari with a total value of 75,000 USD.
However, the above investment is certainly insignificant when the supercar is auctioned next weekend and it is estimated that the profit through the auction will be huge. Its value is estimated at about 4.5-5.5 million USD.
When first launched in the 1990s, the Ferrari F50 cost about 350,000 pounds (equivalent to about 550,000 pounds today – approximately 15.6 billion VND). Thus, the value of the car once owned by Mike Tyson could be 10 times higher than when it was purchased new in 1996.
