The 7,703-square-foot residence in the French Quarter was put up for auction in December and attracted 12 bids before being purchased for little under $3 million.
The $1 million initial offer was made.
“The property brought in a total of $2,800,000 at auction. When Interluxe became involved, it was listed for $3.25 million, which indicates an 86% list/sell ratio,” Interluxe Auctions president and CEO Scott Kirk told FOX Business.
“As of closing, the sale broke a record for the highest sale for a single-family home in the French Quarter in over one year,” said Kirk in his statement.
The house was once owned by Paul Allen, a co-founder of Microsoft, and was constructed in the 1830s. The house contains two half-baths, five bathrooms, and seven bedrooms. In addition, there are marble mantles, hardwood flooring, and a magnificent winding staircase.
A chef’s kitchen, an elevator, a workshop, a home gym, and an outdoor pool and fountain are among the features. The property also has a three-story guest house and a gated driveway with gas lighting.
According to Mansion Global, Pitt and Jolie originally purchased the house in 2006 and sold it in 2016 after Jolie filed for divorce.
The house was owned by Pitt and Jolie for more than a decade, during which time they lived there while working with Pitt’s charity, the Make It Right Foundation, which he formed in 2007 to help repair houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
About two years after their wedding, Jolie and Pitt startled fans by filing for divorce.
When it was last offered for sale, Pitt and Jolie’s previous residence was valued at $5.35 million. It was also the winner of the national HGTV Ultimate House Hunt in the Downtown Dwellings category this year.
