Celebrities are people just like you and me, whether you can believe that or not. They do errands, file their taxes—well, sometimes—and frequently spend a laid-back evening relaxing with their closest buddy. Feelings of loneliness are another issue that stars frequently face, and no matter how famous they may feel, nothing like a worldwide pandemic to make someone feel alone.
Selena Gomez is a case in point.
The ‘Lose You To Love Me’ singer shared a collection of infrequent selfies of herself and best friend Taylor Swift on Instagram on Monday. The photos also featured Swift’s cat, Mr. Benjamin Button, and the caption “Kinda missin this one.” Who else here can empathize with me? The pictures have received over 8 million likes and 66,000 comments since Gomez posted them.
For those who don’t know, Gomez and Swift first became friends while they were both dating members of The Jonas Brothers. Their friendship has lasted for over ten years. Gomez was dating Nick Jonas at the time, and Swift was seeing Joe. Eventually, those relationships inevitably ended, but Gomez and Swift instead developed a wonderful friendship.
Gomez and Swift haven’t been able to see each other much because of the pandemic because of quarantine regulations and other things. Alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short, Gomez is currently filming her most recent television series, Only Murders In The Building, in New York City. Swift divides her time between Nashville, where her family resides, and London, where her boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s family is based, where she is currently re-recording her album Fearless.
Because Taylor and I don’t always feel the need to post about everything we do, there is a lot about our friendship that people are unaware of,” Gomez said. She has supported me in ways I never would have imagined. I was hurt and going through something, which is why I was flown in. Things that were happening in my family. She is one of my greatest friends in the world, and this has been demonstrated year after year and in every moment of my life. Even though we don’t always agree, we still have complete respect for one another.”
