Angelina Jolie stepped out in Paris on Sunday after discussing how she had been in a ‘dark and difficult place’ for the past two years since splitting from Brad Pitt.
The 44-year-old actress, who separated from Brad, 55, in September 2016, had not appeared on screen in four years when she returned to film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Angelina also admitted it took her some time to ‘feel the strength’ of the dark fairy again.
The Lara Croft star, who has Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11, with Brad, revealed that her children’s support helped her get through a difficult period in her life.
‘The last few years have not been the easiest, I’ve had my ups and downs, and I haven’t felt very strong, so there’s something about not feeling very strong that makes you push yourself,’ she told The Sun.
Angelina said, “We all have difficult times, and it’s very similar to my character in the film. My strength comes from my children. I didn’t work because the kids needed me at home.”Anyone who is a parent understands that there is a strength within you that grows when you simply have to survive anything in order to be strong enough for them and pull them through anything.
Angelina added that her children are uninterested in fame and prefer to live a relatively normal life.
Angelina and Brad married in August 2014 after ten years together, but she filed for divorce in September 2016.
A judge granted them both legal single status while finalizing their divorce.
The ex-lovers have reached an agreement on custody for their children and are currently settling property and financial matters, including who will inherit Miraval, their French winery and the location of their wedding ceremony.
According to The Blast, Brad filed documents with the court requesting a private judge to allow their discussions to continue, which the star agreed to.
The LA County Court agreed, as long as the couple paid for the judge’s time themselves, and a stipulation order was issued to “Extend Appointment of Privately Compensated Temporary Judge.”
She previously told Madame Figaro magazine that her split from Brad was ‘a complicated moment’ in which she ‘didn’t recognize herself anymore.’
Angelina stated that when her’relationship was coming to an end’, she ‘had lost’ herself a little.
Regarding the separation: ‘I felt a deep and genuine sadness, I was hurt,’ and she felt’smaller, almost insignificant, even if it wasn’t necessarily obvious.’
