This past weekend, on June 3, Rick Ross held his second annual car and bike show in the front yard of his enormous Promise Land estate in Fayetteville, Georgia. This was the big boss’s goal for this year’s event, which was to be the largest auto show of the year. The mansion was once owned by Evander Holyfield.
Before the event, Ross says to Complex over the phone, “We number one, that’s it.” “And I know what we represent, so I’m repping and speaking on behalf of the hustlers who support me.”
Cars have always been Ricky Rozay’s passion. Before the Miami rapper started Maybach Music in 2009, cars surrounded him. Growing up in Florida, Ross would wash vehicles and give his clients extra tips if they could arrange their CD collection alphabetically. Now, his second annual auto event is scheduled to include a band, vendors, a large selection of cars and motorcycles, and a chance for visitors to view some of the most significant whips in his own collection of more than 100.
Celebrity car shows have been known for their drаmа; Ross’s event took place one week after DJ Envy, presenter of Hоt 97’s Breakfast Club, held his yearly Drive Your Dreams car show in Memphis on March 28. The rapper said that Envy’s event would never be on his level, so in the weeks before both of their gigs, Ross and Envy battled barbs on social media. However, as Ross adds (with a chuckle), DJ Envy is still invited to attend his show at the Promise Land.
Ross said, “Hopefully, they don’t take it personally.” You understand what I meаn when I suggest that they ought to get a ticket and leave. They ought to stop over and partake in some of the sellers’ food. Examine the engines of some of the autos. However, since many of the automobiles have mirrors underneath them, you might not even need to bend over to look. Instead, you can simply stand over and glance down.
Along with Meek Mill, a special guest, and Atlanta resident Gucci Mane, Ross performed musically as part of the festivities. Gucci was the ideal substitute after Lil Wayne was originally scheduled to be the special guest but was unable to attend due to scheduling issues.
“After contacting Gucci, I realized that Gucci is somewhat more involved in the automotive industry than [Lil] Wayne,” he remarked. “There was a very different response when we announced his arrival. Undoubtedly, it was a wise choice, even if it had something to do with the proximity to Atlanta, Georgia, and all the neighboring counties.
Rick Ross talked to us about his favorite music memory from a wҺip, declining a bid for the coveted Virgil Abloh Maybach, and why his car exhibition is the “biggest.”
