Lewis Hamilton Faces Setback Ahead of Japanese Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton’s hopes for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix have been dampened as he loses a power unit from his allocated pool, stemming from a previous failure at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Hamilton’s race at Albert Park was cut short due to a sudden power unit failure, prompting Mercedes to conduct a thorough investigation into the issue. The examination revealed that the problem with the power unit is irreparable, leaving the 103-time race winner with one less engine in his arsenal.
Mercedes identified the cause of the engine failure as a bottom end failure, attributed to a quality process issue. As a result, Hamilton now finds himself with only three power units available for the remaining 21 races of the season.
This setback increases the likelihood of Hamilton incurring a penalty later in the season, as he may be compelled to take an additional engine to compensate for the loss. Despite this setback, Hamilton and his team remain determined to navigate through the challenges and continue their pursuit of success on the track.
