Selena Gomez has overcome her fear of turning 30.
In an interview with People, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter discussed aging.
‘I adore growing up,’ she stated. ‘When I was younger, I was terrified of it, and I imagined that by now, my life would be very different. But now I’m thinking, “Wow, this is not what I ever expected, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
She went on to remark, ‘I’ve stopped caring what other people think, and it’s been great.’
It may be easy for Gomez to disregard what others think when she is repeatedly praised for her professional job. She was nominated for a Grammy for her most recent album Revelación.
“I’m so excited!” she exclaimed after receiving her first Grammy nomination. ‘It’s cool because I poured my heart and soul into that album. I’m not fluent in Spanish, but it turns out that singing in Spanish is simpler for me than speaking it.
‘I wanted to make sure we covered all of the bases, that the lyrics were lovely, that they mirrored where I was in my life, and that every detail of the song felt true. I could not be more proud.
The Only Murders in the Building star also admitted that her Grammy nomination made her’more apprehensive’ but also provided a ‘nice fire under my ass.’
Gomez’s recent success in caregiving entails saying goodbye to others. She talked about leaving her role as Count Dracula’s daughter Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania franchise.
‘I’m a little sad,’ she admitted. ‘But we’ve had a wonderful time. I was 20 when we made the first picture, and now I’m going to turn 30, so it’s quite wild. A lot has changed for me in positive ways.
Despite her Grammy nomination, the Wizards of Waverly Place star has admitted she is unsure whether she will be able to take the day off to celebrate herself. She mentioned that she will be filming the new season of Only Murders in the Building and may not be able to attend the awards presentation.
While Gomez would not reveal any details, she did remark she was’very surprised’ by the series’ direction.
‘It’s not what you would imagine,’ she explained. “There are a lot of new things going on, but I’m still having fun with the old guys [Steve Martin and Martin Short].”
Cara Delevingne will also appear in the series’ second season, and Gomez has opened up about working alongside her buddy.
‘She and I just had our first day filming, and we had a great time,’ Gomez added. It was so much fun. Cara and I have only done one project together, and it was when we were quite young, around 17, so it’s amazing to work with her again.
