The release of Taylor Swift’s eagerly awaited re-recordings, which begin with Love Story (Taylor’s Version) on Thursday, has her fans—famous and not—going crazy.
Twitter went crazy shortly after the song’s release, with fans of Taylor Swift raving about the new, more instrumental version of the 2008 hit song, making #TaylorsVersion the top trending topic on the social media site.
Longtime friend and Swiftie Selena Gomez, 28, joined the chorus of congratulations by expressing her gratitude to the musician on social media.
In 2017, Gomez said to KISS FM UK, “It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
In a 2014 interview, Swift was likewise eager to gush over their long-standing connection, describing it as “very precious” and stating that it was uncommon to have a supportive friendship in Hollywood.
When your life abruptly shifts and you find yourself in an odd maze where your reality differs from everyone else’s perception of it…We’ve both kind of persevered and held on through all the various shifts we’ve experienced.
The ladies sang Selena’s famous song “Hands To Myself” live together during Swift’s 2018 Reputation Tour. Later, Taylor used social media to support Gomez, just as they had done for each other over the years.
“To the person who has always been there for me, no matter what… you KILLED IT tonight, and everyone was so happy to see you,” the message reads. I love you, and the sixty thousand people in Rose Bowl also love you.
Since the Fearless (Taylor’s Version) album can now be pre-ordered before it is released, Selena either put in her hat early or may have received teases from her close friend beforehand.
Swift’s modern interpretation of her high school Romeo and Juliet ballad appeared to appeal to her, marking the first of several “surprises” since she started to rerecord in November.
After a contentious split with Scooter Braun, Taylor battled for years to regain complete control over her repertoire, which culminated in her new music.
After purchasing her previous record label in June, he eventually sold the rights to her first six albums in November. Swift, however, fought valiantly to retrieve her master recordings and rerecord them under her new label, Republic Records.
It appears that Taylor is attempting to assert her dominance and ownership over the globe by tagging ‘Taylor’s Version’ on almost every project she releases.
Old pictures of the singer from her early career are featured in the music video for her modern rendition of Love Story, which concludes with a loving message addressed “to all my fans.”
Fans were relieved to learn that she had left out all references to the song “teenage love hit” from her re-recorded albums and songs, despite her previous tease that certain parts would be different.
Regarding the little modifications her followers can anticipate hearing on the “new” Love Story song, she informed country radio:
“I really wanted my touring band to get a chance to play on this version because you know they spent a lot of years playing this song over and over again,” the singer said of the enjoyable aspect of rerecording Love Story.
In an interview for Republic Records / MCA Nashville, Swift discussed her reasoning for releasing her 2008 album Fearless first, stating, “I always gravitated towards Fearless because I think that, as an album, it was a real coming-of-age.”
She went on, “And when I think back on that record, it makes me feel so proud. It was an album about optimism, life lessons, the exuberance of adolescence, and all that.” How much more enjoyable is it to investigate it again?
Fearless, which will include 26 tracks, includes songs that she has always loved but were left off of previous albums. Despite this, she stated that she “tried to keep it as close to the original as possible.”
“It’s really cool that the fans will get to see the full picture this time around because every album you make, there are songs that you leave off,” she continued. “The additional songs that I’ve added are songs that I think add insight into what the album almost was.”
More of her followers flocked to Twitter on Thursday, with many of them quick to note that, for the first time in her more than ten-year career, she could now add “owned by Taylor Swift” to the credits of other songs.
While she did not state clearly that she would release Fearless to her fans by a specific date on Good Morning America (where she debuted her re-recording news on Thursday), fans were able to deduce the release date when she deliberately capitalized letters in her social media announcement on Thursday, spelling out ‘April 9.’
