Five years ago, when Angelina Jolie last graced the big screen as Maleficent, her married life seemed flawless. However, since then, the stunning Hollywood actress has faced a surprising separation from her husband, Brad Pitt.
At 44, Angelina is reprising her role as the sinister Disney stepmother, Maleficent, which has provided solace during her tumultuous divorce from Brad, 55.
Reflecting on the challenging years, she shares, “The last few years have been tough. I’ve had my highs and lows. There have been moments when I’ve felt weak.”
She continues, “During times of weakness, portraying characters like Maleficent, who demand strength, has been incredibly empowering. It serves as a reminder that I possess inner strength. I suppose I’ve grown a little stronger.”
Angelina also credits her six children for being her guiding light through the darkest times.
Speaking about her children, Angelina remarked, “We’ve all experienced our share of challenges, especially during the lockdown. Like my character in the film, my resilience comes from my children.”
She elaborated, “As any parent knows, there’s an inherent strength that emerges when you’re responsible for your children’s well-being. You find the courage to weather any storm for their sake and guide them through any adversity.”
Today, we uncover that none of Angelina’s children aspire to pursue careers in acting like their parents. Instead, they admire her for receiving a damehood from the Queen and see her as “cool”. Angelina also shared her emotional experience when sending off her eldest, Maddox, to college.
Angelina, who underwent a double mastectomy in 2013, portrays a vengeful fairy in “Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil,” released this week. This marks her first significant role since “By The Sea” in 2015, which also featured Brad.
Their highly publicized split in 2016 after a two-year marriage and 12-year relationship stunned the world. Reports emerged of Brad’s alleged confrontation with their son Maddox, then 16, during a drunken incident on a flight. This incident led to an FBI investigation, although it was subsequently closed.
Following their separation, a £300 million divorce battle ensued, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
Filed in Los Angeles, the paperwork also revealed that Angelina initiated a summons to address the custody of their children, seeking full custody with visitation rights for Brad.
However, in April last year, reports surfaced that Angelina had granted Brad the opportunity to spend time with Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11.
The dispute over their estate reportedly continues to unfold.
Angelina maintains that her primary concern is the well-being of their children.
