According to Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, Lewis Hamilton will need to adjust to the Ferrari team’s mindset when he joins in 2025.
Hamilton’s long-standing relationship with Mercedes will come to an end when he joins the Italian team next year.
The seven-time world champion is looking for a fresh challenge after a trying spell for the Mercedes team, thus he will team up with Charles Leclerc.
Since the end of the 2021 season, Hamilton has not won a grand prix, and Mercedes has fallen in the standings since the implementation of new technical regulations two years prior.
Domenicali, who led Ferrari as the team principal from 2008 to 2014, praised Hamilton’s choice as a fantastic tale for the sport.
“This is amazing news for the Formula 1 team,” Domenicali said to Sky F1.
It’s a fresh start for Ferrari as well as a new chapter in Lewis’ career.
Even though we have only just begun the year 2024, these components have already propelled us into 2025. It will be an amazing story, in my opinion.
Comprehending the mindset of Ferrari
After racing for McLaren and Mercedes, Hamilton will be joining Ferrari as just his third team in the Formula One world.
Ferrari last won the championship in 2008, and Hamilton joins the team during this title drought.
As Hamilton seeks to succeed in a new organization, Domenicali made a suggestion that the environment will differ from what he is accustomed to.
“Lewis needs to understand the mentality of Maranello and Italy and I’m sure that he’s totally curious to understand that,” he said.
“On the other hand, when there is such an incredible personality coming into the team and in Ferrari, there will be a lot of focus on him.
“Charles will take that as a new fire for him to push him to be even stronger so I think all the things are positive for the team.”
