The fashion community frequently makes fun of attendees at the annual Met Gala who don’t follow the theme, wearing something beautiful but not quite embodying the year’s exhibition and story. Lewis Hamilton is never one of those attendees, and his 2024 look is no different.
The patron saint of stylish athletes, Lewis Hamilton, has arrived at the Met Gala. The Formula One driver, dressed in Burberry, extended his winning streak of outfits.

Hamilton went all black this year, wearing a wool coat accented with floral embroidery. The coat was worn over a double-breasted suit and British-made black boots. As a special touch for Hamilton, a quote from Alex Wharton’s poem ‘The Gardener’ was embroidered on the inside.
Daniel Lee, Burberry’s chief creative officer, said of the look: “His Met Gala look is inspired by the story of John Ystumllyn, one of Britain’s first Black gardeners, and the language of flowers in Black history.”
The coat, Lee explained, was embroidered with periwinkle, which represents endurance, yucca, which represents eternity and protects restless spirits, daffodils, which represent hardiness, and cedar branches, which represent everlasting life.
