This Thursday, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt was formally accepted into the Atlanta-based Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College. Many admirers noticed that Zahara left out Pitt when introducing herself as a new member of the first national Black sorority in a video that Essence posted on November 15.
Since their 2016 breakup, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been embroiled in a number of court fights, centered on their winery and custody of their six children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and the twins, Vivienne and Knox, who are 15 years old. Jolie recently disclosed that seven years ago, she reduced her filming schedule to prioritize her children’s needs. “We had a lot of healing to do,” she said in an interview with Vogue about the Atelier Jolie, her new fashion endeavor. “We’re still getting our bearings,”
Jolie said that she’s still figuring out her own sense of style. “I wonder if the reason I don’t know what my style is that, at 48, I’m still figuring out who I am. I suppose that personally, I’m in transition,” she remarked. “These days, I feel a little depressed. I don’t want to get into anything, but I feel like I haven’t been myself for ten years.
Jolie has continuously been spotted supporting her kids in spite of her personal struggles, whether it’s by inviting Vivienne to help her with a theatrical production, going on family red-carpet events, or being present during Zahara’s homecoming weekend. In a 2021 interview with People, Jolie described her children as “pretty great people.” “And I believe they’ve had a huge impact on each other because there are so many of them. It’s not as though I lead anything. I tell my kids the truth all the time. With my children, I’m also a very human being.
“I have six very unique human beings in my home,” she said. I can’t get enough of all the various phases, emotions, and curiosities kids experience. Whence might you not be? Our job is to assist them in discovering who they are. And if you don’t actively grow with them, you won’t be able to understand who they are.
Though the actor has said she’s “not a perfect parent by any means,” it’s clear Zahara is proud to call herself a Jolie.
