Jay-Z and comedian Kevin Hart met at his Roc Nation headquarters in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.
The 52-year-old Brooklyn billionaire carried a green shoebox and wore a brand new pair of white Puma trainers.
Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter) wore Army-green cargo pants and a white T-shirt featuring what seemed to be Brooklyn Dodgers second baseman Jackie Robinson.
The 24-time Grammy winner rounded out his streetwear style with a neon-green tie-dye bucket hat, black sunglasses, and an expensive-looking gold watch.
Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Philadelphia-born comedian, who works with stylist Ashley North, sported a long-sleeved white Gallery Dept. shirt with black pants and Christmas-colored Nike high-tops.
Jay-Z attended Kevin and Chris Rock’s gig at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, which featured transphobic comedian Dave Chappelle as the surprise opening act.
‘[It] was by far the best moment of my career,’ Hart boasted to his 150 million Instagram followers on Sunday.
I can’t even explain it. I can’t find the words. Just know that last night was the epitome of a “epic night.” I love my brothers more than words can express. What we did to the Garden will never happen again. We made history last night!
On the two-time Emmy/Grammy nominee’s Peacock discussion show Hart to Heart, which began streaming on July 14, the Neck & Wrist rapper confirmed that he is far from retired from music.
‘Nah, I tried retirement [in 2003]. Jay-Z said, “I’m terrible at that.”
‘I’m not actively doing music, making albums, or planning to produce albums, but I never want to claim I’m retired. It’s a gift; who am I to turn it off? It is open to whatever. It may also have a different form or interpretation. Maybe it’s not an album; maybe it is. I have no idea, so I’ll simply leave it open.
The high-rolling hip-hop artist is one of the eight credited songwriters on Break My Soul, the first single from his wife Beyoncé Knowles’ seventh studio album Renaissance, which is out this Friday.
J. Balvin, a four-time Grammy nominee, was also seen entering the Roc Nation office on Tuesday, dressed in blue hair, a black Prada shirt and matching cargo pants and boots.
‘I grew up with Jay Z. On Tuesday, the Colombian 37-year-old told Rolling Stone that he believes he is the most influential musician to have influenced various elements of commerce and culture around the world.
‘He made what I wanted to make. I want to start enterprises that will enrich our culture by focussing on Latinos and immigrants. Today, I can be in any environment, proud of who I am and what I’ve accomplished, and have these talks with Jay-Z. He had to get to that, too. Right?
