Sony Pictures announced Monday that Jumanji 3 has been officially greenlit for a December 11, 2026 release date.
According to Deadline, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are all ‘in talks’ to reprise their video game characters in the adventure action three-quel, which will most likely be directed by Jake Kasdan.
On October 16, The Rock, who plays Dr. Xander ‘Smolder’ Bravestone, ‘broke bread’ over dinner with Jumanji 3 producer Hiram Garcia.
On September 10, Karen, who plays Ruby Roundhouse, revealed that she and her husband of two years, Nick Kocher, were expecting their first child.
[Dwayne and I] are discussing, of course, another Jumanji. That was a chat,’ Kevin, who plays Franklin ‘Mouse’ Finbar, told Variety last year.

He and I feel like we need something major to bring our duet to a suitable conclusion. And not simply leave things undone. Like something that will be our last or final movie or franchise.
Meanwhile, Jack, who portrays Professor Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Oberon, has kept a low profile since his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass announced a break on July 14 due to remarks concerning former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt.
Gass was enjoying his 64th birthday onstage at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Australia when Black urged him to’make a wish’ on his lit candles, to which he answered, ‘Don’t miss Trump next time.’
“I was surprised by what was said at the show on Sunday,” the 55-year-old Emmy winner said in a statement at the time.
‘I would never condone hate speech or promote political violence in any manner. After much thought, I no longer believe it is right to continue the Tenacious D tour, and any future creative intentions are put on pause.’
It’s unknown whether the original ensemble of video game-playing ‘teenagers’ – Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner – will be replaced by new faces.
Jumanji 3 will officially be the fifth installment in the $2.1 billion-grossing franchise.
It all began in 1981 with Chris Van Allsburg’s graphic book Jumanji, which Joe Johnston transformed into the $65 million fantasy starring Robin Williams in 1995, grossing $262.8 million worldwide despite poor reviews.(from L to R) Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Karen Gillan are all ‘in negotiations’ to reprise their video game characters in the adventure action three-quel, which will almost certainly have director Jake Kasdan back at the helm.
